Kilsyth 3 v Dalry 0
WEST REGION SUPERLEAGUE FIRST DIVISION                         22/8/09

KILSYTH RANGERS 3    DALRY THISTLE 0

Rangers opened their league campaign with a win over newcomers to the
division, Dalry Thistle, and eventually ran out good winners although
it was touch and go for a while in the first half. With quite a few
newcomers in the side from last season it will take a little time to
find the right blend but there are definite signs that this could be a
much better season for them than the last two or three.

A very good opening spell from the home side and Chris Zok had the
ball in the net early on with a good header but the ref. had him
offside and the goal was chalked off. A minute later and he almost got
to another ball but Dalry keeper, Ward, picked it off his head. Rangers
continued to dominate for a while but made few further openings and
gradually Dalry were coming into the game. A cornerkick after twenty
five minutes saw them come close with a header which came off the
Rangers crossbar and then Dukes had to make a fine save from a good
eighteen yard effort from Hay. It was Dalry who were getting all the
best chances now and as halftime approached they were perhaps rather
unfortunate not to be in the lead. Then almost on the whistle Darren
DALRYMPLE went on a good run into the Dalry box, stumbled and almost
lost the ball, but made a good recovery net from eight yards. A very
good solo effort and well derserved for one of Rangers most consistent
players so far this season.

Again Rangers were dominant from the whistle as the second half got
under way and inside six minutes thet went two up; ZOK broke away and
this time there was no mistake as he fired in a great shot from fifteen
yards. Rangers made a change, bringing on Francis Kelly for Watters and
really now they were cruising. they could have gone three up when Tough
missed a good chance right in front of goal. Then Kelly stumbled on the
edge of the box after a good run in. Dalry were hardly in it by now and
their chances of making a comeback faded when their sub., Duncan,
received two yellow cards in quick succession and they were down to
ten men. With just ten minutes remaining Zok ran in and got in a shot
which the keeper blocked; it came out to KELLY who put in another which
struck a defender on its way to the net. Could be counted as an O.G.
but we'll give the Kilsyth player the credit. That was it, Martin
replaced Zok for the last few minutes but the job was done,   Rangers
got away to the ideal start and hopefully can also pick up the points
at Whittlets, the other Ayrshire newcomers in the division, next
Saturday.

KILSYTH RANGERS 2 ANNBANK UNITED 1
STAGECOACH WEST REGION SUPERLEAGUE FIRST DIVISION  12/9/09

KILSYTH RANGERS 2  ANNBANK UNITED 1

Rangers picked up another three points which keeps them in the top
trio of the promotion chasing teams. It was never easy though, Annbank
fought hard to stay in the game, and indeed in the first half, had by
far the better chances. Rangers did probably just deserve the verdict
over the ninety minutes although they left it late to get the winning
goal.

Several changes had been made from the side which went down 3-0 at
Glenafton last week, leading scorer, Chris Zok, was unavailable due to
work committments and Steven McPeake made his first start of the
season. Annbank got off to a good start carving an opening in the first
minute but failed to capitalise. Rangers replied with Murray trying a
shot from almost thirty yards which was not far off target. Annbank had
another attempt, this time Dukes did well to get down to a McGinn shot.
It was end to end stuff although good football was in short supply from
both sides but generally it was Annbank who were getting the better
chances and Dukes made one spectacular save from a point blank effort
by Wilson. McGinty had a shot on target for Rangers,  then in the forty
second minute following a corner kick MARTIN gathered the ball near the
corner of the Annbank box and scored with a sixteen yard low shot to
the far corner of the net. Rangers were slightly fortunate to go in a
goal ahead at halftime.

Not much action from the restart until with ten minutes played Callum
Scott was downed running into the Annbank penalty area; Tough took the
reulting penalty award but struck a rather poor effort straight to the
keeper. Annbank broke away and Dukes had to make another fine save.
Things began to get a little scrappy by the hour mark with first Scott
being booked, then no less than five Annbank players seeing yellow
cards in the space of five minutes, although several of these were for
arguing with the referee. Things calmed down a little and Rangers began
to get a grip on the game and looked to be cruising to a narrow victory
until with ten minutes remaining a freekick award let Annbank Sub.
ROACHE strike a lovely twenty five yarder to the top corner of the
net.  Two minutes later though, and a freekick to Rangers, taken from
well inside their own half was picked up by Tough and flicked on to
SICHI, whose shot restored the lead. A few minutes later and Rangers
sub, David Watters, got away and tried to round the keeper, but was
dispossesed, it made little difference, time was up, and Rangers had
the win. Three wins from the first four games is a creditable start,
but the competition in this division will be very fierce.

KILSYTH; Dukes, Scott, Carr, Doyle, Murray, McGinty, Kelly, Tough,
Martin, McPeake, Sichi.
Subs. Jarvis, Neville, Watters, Dalrymple, Valentine, O'Boyle.

ANNBANK; McGarrity, Boyd, Noble, Ritchie, Holland, McKenzie, Connolly,
McCann, McGinn, Wilson, Collins.
Subs. Roache, Simpson, Mcmillan, Hyslop, Callaghan.

Game next Saturday, home to Maybole, K,O, 2pm.

Kilsyth 3 v Maybole 2
STAGECOACH WEST REGION SUPERLEAGUE FIRST DIVISION            19/9/09

KILSYTH RANGERS 3  MAYBOLE JUNIORS 2

Another win for Rangers against Ayrshire opposition, making it four
out of five so far, and maintaining their challange at the top end of
the league. Their first half performance was probably the best forty
five minutes of the season so far, it was much harder in the second
half when Maybole put up a much better display. A weeks break before
Rangers start the next phase of their season and if they can maintain
this form they must be amongst the favourites to gain a promotion
place.

There was a fifteen minute delay in starting the game due to the
visitors being held up by traffic problems but Rangers did not wait for
them to settle; within two minutes they went ahead, McGinty had a good
effort blocked, the ball rebounded to DALRYMPLE who made no mistake
with a shot to the far corner of the net. Bouyed by their early success
Rangers went into all out attacking mode and could have had another
couple of goals within the first ten minutes. Mayboles first chance
came when Doyle gave away a freekick some twenty eight yards out,
Loves' effort just skimmed the post with Dukes static. Rangers were
still well on top though with Dalrymple and Sichi in particular posing
all kinds of trouble to the Maybole defence. however in a breakaway
just after the quarter of an hour Marc Murray made a rather rash
challange in the home penalty area, KERR restoring equality with a well
taken spotkick. Six minutes later and it was Rangers turn; Dalrymple
was taken down by the Maybole keeper, ZOK  converted to put Rangers
ahead once more. Dalrymple was involved in the action again a little
later, he won a corner after some tricky play out near the flag,
McGINTY headed in from the resulting corner. It looked at this stage as
if Rangers might go on to run up a big score but despite a few more
close calls they did not increase their lead and just before halftime a
corner to Maybole allowed them the chance to pull one back with a fine
header by LOVE. A great first halfs entertainment for the fans with
most of the football coming from Rangers although Maybole proved that
they could hit back given the chance.

By contrast, the second half opened well for Maybole, they were
enjoying much moe possession although not making many real chances.
Rangers first half sparkle was nowhere to be seen and although they did
have a few good efforts, Kelly skimming the crossbar with a thirty yard
effort, and Zok making several good runs into the Maybole box. McPeake
came on for Sichi who had taken a knock, Tough tried a header which was
not far off target and with ten minutes remaining Martin came on for
Zok who had run himself almost to a standstill. Almost on the final
whistle and Maybole sub. Maxwell, was shown a straight red card after a
crude tackle on Dalrymple. On paper, a close result, but in reality
Rangers should have won by a much wider margin on their first half
display.

KILSYTH; Dukes, Scott, Carr, Doyle, Murray, McGinty, Kelly, Tough,
Zok, Sichi, Dalrymple.
Subs. McPeake, Jarvis, Neville, Martin, Watters, Trialist, O'Boyle..

MAYBOLE; McAuley, Clark, Crawford, Stevenson, Peacock, Scott, Boyle,
Walker, Kerr, McGrady.
Subs. Leonard, Maxwell, McMorland, Eaglesham.

No game this Saturday, September holiday weekend.
Next match, away to Ashfield, Saturday 3rd October.

STAGECOACH WEST REGION SUPERLEAGUE FIRST DIVISION
10/10/09

KILSYTHJ RANGERS 4  RENFREW JUNIORS 0

A much improved display by Rangers from the defeat at Ashfield the
prervious week and the three points lifts them into joint second, level
with Cumnock, and one point behind Ashfield who lost at Glencairn. This
is turning out to be a very competitive league with several other clubs
snapping at the heels of the leading group. It has to be said though,
that Renfrew are likely to one of the relegation candidates, even at
this early stage, they were woefully weak in defence and carried little
threat up front.

A bright start from Rangers, they took the game to the visitors and
were soon making chances with Mcginty having a very good effort from
thirty yards just over the bar. However it was a freekick in twenty
minutes which allowed DOYLE to open the scoring with a dipping effort
from about twenty five yards. The keeper could be judged to be at fault
though, he seemed to have it covered but the ball went just above his
reach to the net. Renfrew made a brief effort to come back with Smith
testing Dukes with a good shot. Tony Martin beat several defenders to
get into a good position but his final shot went straight to Shaw. Then
Zok had a good header deflected to go out for a corner, halftime
arrived with Rangers ahead but really they could have been two or three
up.

Rangers went back into attack from the restart and again had several
near things before renfrew finally woke up and for a spell threatened
to make a game of it. The nearest to an equaliser came with a header
which Dukes had to save at point blank range. Then Doyle had to race
back to clear a ball from the goal line with dukes stranded. Just on
the hour mark and a Rangers corner resulted in McGINTY running in to
net from six yards to put them two up. A little later and DALRYMPLE
won a freekick out near the touchline; he took the kick himself and the
keeper again was at fault; he stopped the shot but the ball dropped
over the line and the far side linesman signalled a goal. Renfrew were
not in the game by this stage and it came as little surprise when
Rangers added a fourth just a few minutes later; Kelly broke away, beat
a couple of defenders before passing to ZOK, who had the simplest of
tap-in's to complete the rout. There was no more scoring although
rangers had a few more chances before the final whistle. A good win,
but much stronger opposition awaits before thought of promotion back
into the Premier can be realised.

KILSYTH; Duke, Murray, Jarvis, Doyle, Tough, McGinty, Sichi, McPeake,
Zok, Dalrymple, Martin
Subs. Scott, Kelly, Waters, Carr, Williamson, Mcmenemy, O'Boyle

RENFREW; Shaw, Dickie, Gordon, Welsh, Hammond, Currie, Srewart,
McLean, Reid, Smith, Crowhurst.
Subs. Forbes, Wilson, Maxwell, Wilson.

Game next Saturday, away to Lesmahagow, West of Scotland cup first
round, K.O. 2pm

STAGECOACH WEST REGION SUPERLEAGUE FIRST DIVISION           24/10.09

KILSYTH RANGERS 1  RUTHERGLEN GLENCAIRN 1

Two points lost. rather than one gained, has to be the verdict on this
bruising encounter between Rangers and newly promoted Glencairn. The
visitors played almost the whole game with only ten men when McShane
was red carded after only ten minutes but came back strongly to snatch
a goal as a result of indecision in the home defence. It was down to
who wanted the result the most, and in this respect it has to be said
that Glencairn were the winners.

It was all action right from the first whistle with Rangers producing
the nice football and Glencairn the muscle. In only ten minutes a
brutal foul by McShane on Waters saw the defender receive a straight
red card, there were vigorous protests both from the player, and also
Glens manager, Scott Smith on the sidelines, which resulted in both
being sent to the pavilion. Rangers settled down to pursuing their
numerical advantage and made several chances before Zok sent DALRYMPLE
away to drive a cracking twenty two yard shot high into the net.
Glencairn were not too fussy as to how they tried to contain the eager
Rangers attacks and it was not long before Dickson was also seeing a
yellow card. Despite this though they were also making chances as well
and Tough had to make a deperate tackle in the box to thwart one good
attack. It was Rangers who had the most chances though and really should
have added at least one more goal before the interval although it was
Glens who had a couple of good openings as halftime neared, it was not
at all obvious that they were a man down.

It was again pretty even from the restart although Zok, whose luck
seemed to have deserted him, missed with a couple of opernings. Then in
fifty five minutes McLAUGHLIN made a run into the Rangers penalty area;
despite at least three defenders having the opportunity to make a
tackle he was allowed to run through and drive the ball past Dukes. It
was becoming an increasingly scrappy and bad tempered affair with
several more bookings to add to the three from the first half. Both
sides were making substitutions in an effort to gain the initiative
with Rangers bringing on Kelly for Sichi and later Martin and Scott..
Rangers gained a number of freekicks in good positions but invariably
they were being wasted, either off target or off the wall. If it was
thought that the ten men of Glencairn would tire in the latter stages
there was little sign of it until the last five minutes or so, when
Rangers did make a couple of good openings, but they could not get the
break, the points were shared, but Glencairn take the honours for
effort.

KILSYTH; Duke, Murray, Carr, Doyle, Tough, McGinty, Sichi, McPeake,
Zok, Waters, Dalrymple.
Subs. Kelly, Scott, Martin, Williamson, Bowers, Neville, O'Boyle.

GLENCAIRN; McNeil, Hadden, Palmer, Prunty, McShane, Gentile, Dickson,
McLaughlin, McGladrigan, Fraser.
Subs. McDougall, Carr, O'Keane, Hopkins, Barr, Burke, Samachunga.

Match Sponsor, HiRode Holidays, Lochend holiday homes, Banton Loch,
