Ground out or otherwise, the next stage is round three. A moniker, as you say the cowards are hiding behind, has the same meaning as pseudonym, so where does ayrshirekilsyth fit in.?
ground out a result today against a stubborn dundee team.the sending off didnt help.keep up the good work guys, although even though we are challenging for the title and hopefully a good scottish cup run it will never be good enough for the cowards that hide behind a moniker on this board..
You have been drawn with us .. Dundee North End in the 2nd round of the scottish, feel free to browse our website www.thedokens.webs.com for directions and facilities etc. we have an excellent club on the grounds which you will be warmly welcomed. see you all on the 31st october!
Maybe i am the biggest fan, at 6 foot 2 or 3, and 15 and a half stone, who cares? As for opinions, they are exactly that, just opinions, we all have our own, thankfully. Mine is, we are getting back on track to fight for promotion, nothing more than that. My opinion is also the management team are doing a good job, bearing in mind there are no guarantees in any game, as in, who should win does not always win. Just support the club, encourage the players, buy a lottery ticket thingy every week, and remember the RACE NIGHT in Queenzieburn Community Hall on 24th October, if you can't manage to go, just by a ticket, sponsor a horse or a race, or donate a prize for the half time raffle, or something, lol.
George if I was Tam I would be pissed off with you..!! I repeat..........I am not Tam!! I know the big guy you mean but I can assure you we are of a different generation. Anyway, Renfrew were a handful until we upped our performance in the 2nd half and we should enjoy the performance rather than dwell on weather they were any good or not.
Lets take our home form on the road and we will be in with a shout. Glad to see Tough back in the back 4 and thought Mcpeake did well coming back in. Sichi and Dalrymple outstanding,
Much better this afternoon, although 15 minutes into the second half I couldn't see 4-0. The back 5 were solid with Dukesy making a great save in the first half. McPeake added a bit of composure on the ball in the midfield and the forwards all played their parts in the goals.
Not hiding behind a pseudnym George and others. Maybe you should just give Ashfield some credit for their performance, look at their overal record so far this season, semi-final of Sectional league cup, beaten Cumnock, Clydebank and Maybole convincingly. Drawn with Glenafton, note all these except Clydebank at home. Not so good away, gubbed 3-0 at Annbank, one of the weakest sides we played last season. Might the exceptionally narrow pitch have something to do with it? How many times did we try to put a ball out wide and it went out of play? Having said all that I recognise there are weaknesses in our squad but the money is just not there to sign big money players. I am confident we will do a lot better at home to Renfrew this Saturday. Remember to get your tickets for the Race Night and maybe we can raise enough cash to strengthen the team.
George: Who's hiding?? I am the biggest fan, of that I have no doubt. I see and tell it as it is good or bad (shit or pish) as you were quick to point out. Do you agree with me that is the thing, not who I may or may not be. If that was your first game in a while then i feel sorry for you, as we are a lot better than that!!!...........well, some times.
I don't know if you were there on Saturday or not but either adjective would be appropriate to describe the overall performance, hopefully things are better this weekend.
Total shite................. That sums up our performance today. Out fought from start to finish. Ref very poor, but what were you doing Murray at the penalty??? It was clear to me "in the stand from over the halfway line" you had both arm wrapped around the guys neck!!!!!!!!!!! 2 PENS conceded in the last 2 games for sheer stupidity. That said i thought Murray was probably the best of the back 4 today although thats not saying much. Doyle caught sleeping with a quick throw for the first goal and who was marking for the free header from the corner. What about Neville?? one poor half against the Glens and we haven't seen him since. We are crying out for a footballer in the middle of the park,Tough and Mginty are ball winners but then tend to kick it the way their facing. Lets sort it out or we will be no better than mid table also rans.
another good win for us,worried bout goals with no chris zok playing, but lads came up trumps,Franny kellys best game to date as well, keep up the good work lads.Refs continue to bamboozle me with some weird an wonderful descions 2.
A Race Night will be held on Saturday 24th October to raise funds for the club. Queenzieburn Community Hall 7pm to 12pm. Admission £5.00 (includes buffet). Contact John Ferguson on 01236 824306 for tickets and other info.
Does Ayrshire have Scotlands worst pubs? Today I found on which is a strong rival to the "Shoart Measure" in Girvan for the title. The Glens Bar just opposite Glenaftons park. It has five fonts on the bar but only two with beer; one with Carlsberg which is OK, the Bellhaven Best is "off", I seem to remember it was a;so off a year ago on our last visit. O.K. then I'll just have a pint of McEwans 60/-. it looked fine when served but had a strong soapy taste and was sent back. It was exchanged for a can of John Smiths without question. Later when I went back to the bar it was still sitting behind the bar under the font awaiting the next unsuspecting mug who asked for a pint of light. I should have noticed that all the locals who were not on lager were drinking cans of McEwans export or John Smiths. P.S. The tumbleweed is still rolling down the Main Street past the two boarded up Hotels and all the empty shops. It makes Kilsyth Main St look like Sauchiehall St on a Saturday afternoon two days before Xmas.
Was at Whitletts game yesterday, my son is with them. i thought u are a good side with a few decent players who will do well this season. score flattered Whitletts a bit., they play far too many high balls. Kilsyth try to play football. Good luck for the season.
Would this be the Jim Wilson, Kilsyth Academy, !950's? by any chance. Lived in Balmalloch Road just over the wall from the football pitch? Not been resident in Kilsyth these many years but I'm sure your brother was in touch with us some years ago. News to us at KRFC that we have a roof over the pitch, sure your not confusing us with Wimbldon. You're welcome to come and repaint the enclosure roof any time you like, abput a months work with a 6" paintbrush.
I was browsing through the photos in the gallery and its nice to see all the seats on the terraces and the roof open over the pitch, the roof needs a coat of paint on the stand, only an observation. Jim
Regarding the new photo in the gallery; it was taken just before the Scottish semi against Linlithgow at Brockville and should also show Johnnny Glover, team coach, on extreme right. He says he has seen another copy with him in it but presumably photographer took more than one shot. The Daily Express could presumably afford to take more than one as it was the top selling Scottish daily paper in those days. Their Junior correspondent, Laurie Cumming, was a big Kilsyth fan and always gave us a great write up before any big game.We could have beaten Linlithgow on the night but Kilsyth committee who picked the team in those days dropped top scorer Wim Cardwell for the game as he had fallen out with a committee man. Linlithgow were unbeaten during that whole season up to that point but were there to be beaten. They had Colin Stein, who went to Glasgow Rangers, at centre forward for that game, not sure if he was the scorer of their only goal, I'll check it out.
From the fixtures list on the news page we are due to play Ashfield on Wed 9th Sept which is the same night as Scotland play Holland at Hampden which will also be on Sky. Some other teams would appear to have moved their fixtures for that night, is there any chance of this happening here?
Don't think he was playing juniors as far back as that but he played at Duncansfield a few seasons ago for Bellshill in a West of Scotland cup tie which they won on penalty kicks.
* Tragic death of Graham Potter - Cumnock Juniors F.C. Committee would like to intimate how devastated they are about the tragic death of pleasant, popular goalkeeper Graham Potter. Our sincere condolences go to Graham's family and friends. Graham died on Sunday 26th July at the Team's hotel at Durham where the Team were taking part in a game/training weekend. At this very early stage it would seem that Graham had a heart attack.
* Details of Graham's Funeral - The funeral will take place this Saturday 1st August at 12.30pm at South Lanarkshire Crematorium, Sydes Brae, Blantyre, G72 0TL
From Cumnock's website.
I believe he was only 30 years of age, tragic indeed. I tried to post a message in Cumnock's forums, but they are closed just now. My deepest condolences to his family and club.
I believe there was a Danny Wilson joined us from Cowdenbeath 1987 or 1988, he joined Cowdenbeath from Bonnybridge in 1983. No other info yet.
Hi I am enquiring about my Uncle who I believe played for Kilsyth Rangers. His name was also Danny and I am looking for some information regarding him, I have currently a lot of information from Cowdenbeath who he also played with. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks
We did play Glasgow Rangers more than once, the first, and best remembered was in 1956 (30th April) when we did indeed beat a strong side 2-1, Tommy douglas scored both goals. The later occasion is not so well remembered proibably because we lost 10-1 to a young side with Alex Willougby and Max Forrest up front. That was on !0th february 1962 with a side including Billy Simons from T wechar and ian wilkie from kirkintilloch, ( I'm not singleing them out to blame, we vwere simply overrun on a rotten day by a very talented young team and we did get to the sixth round of bthe Scottish that year, went out to Rob-Roy, the eventual Winners)
G.Bateman says... No big deal, but on looking through Friendly Match Reports and the report on the Big Gers...Wee Gers, which I remember seeing, and no, it wasn't the last time I was at Duncansfield, the year given in the report is 1965.Somehow I think it might have been somewhat earlier. Can this be confirmed?
There was a rematch, i believe, sometime after that match, and the big gers hammered us, (chances each) lol, but well before my time. There may have been other games between the two clubs, was just a match report i got handed in for the website, and i request more if available.
Ayrshire Kilsythian has given us good info. on which hostelrys to visit or avoid in the past and those of us who are likely to make the journey are very grateful to him. Just a pity his pubspy activities don't extend as far South as Girvan as he might have warned us to steer clear of "The Shoart Measure" on Girvan Main Street
Just a wee comment for the guys who are making the trip down to my adopted home of Ayr on the 29th of august v Whittletts VIctoria.Whitletts is a bit of a shithole and if you are down for the day you are better going in to the town for a pint. There is a pub next to the ground which is part of shoot soccer 5 a side pitches and a few pubs close by up at whitletts road.
And good luck for the new season to Matty and the team.
See Michael Daly has opened his account with QP, he scored with a header against Partick Thistle in a mid-week friendly. Maybe we'll get some compensation for him now, a set of secondhand corner flags perhaps?
I hear Andy Thomson is available for transfer??? What happened there then!! .I thought he was now on the coaching staff. Must be honest and say i think his best days are now behind him. Started last season on fire then completely went off the radar.I read his comments in the times about having a decent season??? not really and no wonder he has had no offers.
After starting his career with Neilston, veteran Martin enjoyed the peak of his career in the Scottish League after joining Queen's Park in 1996 from Kilsyth Rangers.
He moved on to Forfar Athletic and then Clyde before spells at both Stranraer and Stenhousemuir in 2000-01. Bellshill-born Martin switched back to the Juniors with a move to first club Neilston in the summer of 2001 where he was top scorer in his only season at the Brig. Work commitments took him away from football for a year but he returned to the game with Lok in August 2003. He is one of the club's most popular players and works tirelessly for the side.
Martin McLauchlan's Playing Record for Pollok 2002-03: - 2003-04 (47): 38 starts / 17 goals (YC 5, RC 0) 2004-05 (41): 35 starts, 2 sub apps / 15 goals (YC 9, RC 1) 2005-06 (21): 13 starts, 2 sub apps / 3 goals (YC 1, RC 0) total: 86 starts, 4 sub apps, 35 goals (90/35)
The player you mention was Mark McLauchlan who came to us from Neilston, he went to Queens Park, I think we got a set of goal nets and a couple of match balls for him (QP don't believe in being over generous in the matter of compensation) He then went on to Forfar Athletic and latterly resurfaced in the Juniors with Pollok a year or two back. He did come with a decent goal scoring record but I don't recollect that his record with us could in any way be descibed as prolific, I seem to remember many more missed sitters! He did seem to recover his abilities in front of goal later though, I think he scored a few with Pollok, I have a feeling he may now be involved in coaching at Vale of Clyde after their recent change of management. For the record, our current player Andy McGinty also had a spell at QP, went to Cumbernauld, them came here.
Yes, i believe this is so, as a player, sorry to see him leave. Look the Queens Park website forums, some funny comments about him being fat or fast, obviously a typo, lol, from someone. Want see a few of the goals he scored for for us, look up Kilsyth Rangers on youtube, mostly against Pollok. Can also see some goals/brief highlights from other games for us, all recorded by other teams supporters, maybe the odd one from Ricky there too. (got an error on me speelin, sory Rickie)
Having seen about 75% of the games last season i'm quite pleased that the bulk of the squad are being retained. I can't imagine there is a huge pot of money available for new players so why take a chance on wholesale changes. A couple of good signings combined to a bit more consistency should hopefully lead to a good season. On their day the squad of players we had last season were capable of beating anyone in the division. I don't know about encouraging more supporters but the whining on here won't encourage the players. Maybole was the last game of the season two days after every player gave their all in a cup final, why not comment on that performance?
Duke, Tough, Doyle, Murray, Carr, McPeake, Valentine, Upton, McGinty, Martin, Dalrymple, Bowers, Watters, Sichi Graeme Meechan has been invited to do pre-season to prove he is fit. Michael Daly has been given a chance with Stirling Albion. Havent spoken to Andy Thomson as he was on holiday.
Hoping to bring in 4 or 5 players to bolster the squad. Moving on or listed : Hodge, Scott MacDonald,
Preperations for next season are well underway. Currently have resigned 14 of last seasons squad. Working on bringing in some new faces to add depth to the squad. Keep checking for updates.
Regarding team photo, should be on soon, my fault, I had mislaid CD ROM that came with the camera (recently Aquired) and couldn't download photos. Have now found it and will speak to Webmaster tonight in pub and should be on by tomorrow night
George,(web master) I know you want people to use the forums but the fact is, the guest book is more popular to post on. At at a glance you can see what anybody is talking about and on any subject. When was the last post of any interest in the forum???People like the guest book plain and simple.A bit of banter over the web ye canny beat it. Ewan chill out.George i really must stress i am not Tam.
All done? I am considering taking out the guestbook, after all it is meant for guests. Use the forums. I spent two months trying to get the forums to work in this website, my website as a supporter, not the club's. We have have near 24,000 visits to this site from all around the world as i have stated before. Ok, the counter reset at 15,000 the last time and i still have not found out why. Mr. Bateman (elder or younger) has made quite a few pertinent posts in the forums, and i would like more like that, but not the name calling from any one to any one else. We all have our own opinions, and that is good, but keep it nice please, websites are not local by any means.
Bateman I invite you to quantify your remarks. Prove what you just said. I was actually put forward for the Presidents position at the last AGM, something you would know had you bothered to attend.
And why keep calling someone Tam when they have told you that they are not called Tam?
And I will also point out, although it has since been removed by the webmaster, that some of your posts have been very derogatory towards myself and also to the post by Wullie Harvey. So I think it is you that has lost the plot. With behaviour like that I'm glad you dont come to games anymore. I dont need to prove myself to you, if I hadnt done anything to enhance the Club I would have been voted off the Committee at an AGM.
